  9.      NEW YORK, June 29, 1993 -- Intel Corporation today announced
  10.      enhancements to its IndeoTM video software technology that boost
  11.      picture clarity, color reproduction and software-only playback
  12.      performance of Indeo video compressed files.
  13.      
  14.      Indeo video is an advanced compression/decompression software
  15.      technology that allows for scalable, software-only video playback 
  16.      on Intel processor based personal computers.
  17.      
  18.      Video playback is two times faster than with earlier versions of 
  19.      the technology.  As a result, PCs equipped with an Intel486(TM) 
  20.      DX2 or Pentium(TM) processor are able to playback in full screen 
  21.      mode (using software only) a file captured and compressed by an 
  22.      Intel Smart Video Recorder in real-time at 320 x 240 at 15 frames 
  23.      per second.  In addition, the built-in scalability of Indeo 
  24.      technology adjusts the frame rate depending on the computer's 
  25.      performance capabilities.  This allows users to play Indeo video 
  26.      files on any Intel 486 SX or DX processor-based PC.

  28.      "The latest enhancements significantly improve the level of video
  29.      quality that can be achieved on a PC without expensive video add-on
  30.      hardware," said Claude Leglise, video brand marketing director at
  31.      Intel.  "The new and improved Indeo video technology delivers 
  32.      excellent picture playback on a full range of systems.  And the 
  33.      combination of Indeo video and Intel's recently announced Smart 
  34.      Video Recorder means users can capture and compress a video file 
  35.      in a single step, saving time and money."

  37.      Compatibility and Availability
  38.      
  39.      The latest version of Indeo video is fully compatible with any file
  40.      created using earlier versions of the technology.  The new enhanced
  41.      Indeo video will be available in August.  Registered Intel Smart 
  42.      Video Recorder owners will receive update disks free of charge.  
  43.      Licensed users may also download the updated software by calling 
  44.      Intel's on-line bulletin board service at 916-356-3600.

  50.      Windows*, IBM's OS/2* R2.1 and upcoming Multimedia Presentation

  52.      will be demonstrating products incorporating Indeo video at PC Expo 
  53.      this week.
